Hemispheric Institute Encuentro 2007: Buenos Aires, Argentina

"Corpolíticas/Body Politics in the Americas": The Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics held its 6th Encuentro in Buenos Aires, Argentina from June 7-16, 2007. The event was co-hosted by Centro Cultural Recoleta in collaboration with the Instituto Torcuato Di Tella, the Teatro Empire, students and faculty from Universidad de Buenos Aires and focused on body politics: the politics of the body, political bodies, bodies politic, and the relations between them. We were particularly interested in the formations of race, class, sexuality, ethnicity, and gender articulated through body politics in different eras, geographies and imaginaries in the Americas.
