I present images and jewelry as vehicles to amplify taboo aspects of the body. I highlight where the interior body transgresses its boundaries making organs, imperfections and diseases visible.
Lauren Kalman completed her Master of Fine Arts Degree in Art from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She has a strong interest in education, which has lead her to teach at several nonprofit centers and is currently an Assistant Professor and 3D Coordinator in the Fine Arts Department at Watkins College of Art and Design in Nashville, TN. Through her work, she hopes to communicate alternative thinking about material worth, social custom, and the body.
