Helaine Gawlica is the Special Collections Assistant at the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics.  Helaine is currently building the Hemispheric Institute’s physical archive and is investigating the relationship between physical and digital archive environments.  Helaine is interested in how the archive can function as a radical pedagogy by disseminating information and knowledge to communities who would not have access or be exposed to research materials.  Helaine views the archive as a performative landscape where scholarship, artistic expression, and politics can take shape as an embodied practice.  Helaine is committed to making artistic resources accessible to the public as a means to generate new productions of knowledge, cultural meanings, and socio-political change.  Helaine is honored to be part of the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics.
