MEDIA Project AssistanT

Zoe Lukov received an interdisciplinary Bachelor's from Oberlin College, where she focused her research on West African dance in the diaspora and performance in the context of dictatorial regimes in Latin America.  As a dancer, Zoe trained with Adenike Sharpley and her company Dance Diaspora.  A one-time child actress, her credits include roles on New York Undercover, Sex and the City, and various independent and art films. As a recipient of the EMERGENYC Fellowship of 2009, she created collaborative performance works, exhibiting at the Hemispheric Institute in NYC and Benson-Keyes Gallery in Southhampton, NY.  Her works Paper Bag Princesses/Ghosts of Torture Memos Past and the assembly fashion fractures discourse as it were and if you will use the torture memos released during George W. Bush's presidency and declassified documents from the CIA archives as a point of departure. She is currently developing a project exploring the changes and continuities in both traditional and contemporary performance in Colombia working towards a re-imagining of the nation's cultural and political cartography—a re-mapping that accounts for the undocumented movements, migrations, and internally displaced peoples within national borders. As a performer in various collectives, and an independent curator, she focuses on the creation and dissemination of work that is committed to political and social change.
