Women of the Corn

Women of the Corn

Claudia García

Narrar para Vivir (Narrate to Live) is a women's organization for victims of the armed conflict in Colombia, in the region of Montes de María. For these women, telling their stories is a way of ensuring that the truth is not silenced; their voices are resistance against silence and amnesia. The mujeres del maíz (women of the corn), gain strength as a group, reaffirm their autonomy, recuperate their dignity as women, and transform traditionally designated roles. This film stands as evidence of their capacity to transform their lives and environment, for the benefit of the entire community.
