My German Lollipop

Through the lens of post-war German kitsch and pop culture, My German Lollipop is a reflection on feminism and sexual politics, as they relate to alternating expressions of shame and liberation. Using dance, voice, blue lederhosen, and a dj mash-up of Heidi Bachert's My Boy Lollipop, the piece seeks to examine how an individual grapples with inherited shame, when paired with the power of sexuality.

My German Lollipop was originally presented in Toronto at the Summerworks Theatre Festival of 2009, in collaboration with Pierre-Antoine Lafon-Simard, director and sound designer of this piece.
