Thinkers of Earth and Water

Thinkers of Earth and Water is an exaltation of the different lifestyles and ways of thinking that are preserved in Colombia's indigenous communities. It shows the process of painting eight "thinkers" (pensadores) and four canoes belonging to different Colombian indigenous communities.

Biography

Benjamín Jacanamijoy Tisoy is an indigenous Colombian artist whose artistic name in his native language is Uaira Uaua (Son of the Wind). After his thesis Chumbe Arte Inga was published in 1993, he began working toward the recovery and appreciation of his own history. Through his artistic work and his research, he has explored the art of weaving life and the art of storytelling.
