Négritude

A video installation that investigates Aimé Césaire's anti-colonial concept in our times. It explores the contradictions between the affirmation of the value of black cultures and the representations and discourses of black masculinity in Caribbean pop music, circulated and made popular through the radio. This video shows a salsa dancer dancing in Bogotá's urban environment with a voluminous afro that reminds the viewer of revindications like "Black is Beautiful" or "Black Power," which drew inspiration from the Négritude movement.
