Face Cages

Face Cages is a critical dystopic installation in which biometric facial diagrams are fabricated as metal objects that resemble torture devices. These “cages” are then used in endurance-driven performances to dramatize the irreconcilability of the standardized, neoliberal biometric diagram with the materiality of the human head.

Biography

Zach Blas is an artist, writer, and curator whose work engages technology, queerness, and politics. He is the creator of Facial Weaponization Suite and the art group Queer Technologies, a founding member of The Public School Durham, and a PhD candidate at Duke University in the Literature Program.
