Carmen Ixchel Maya: Precision Dance

Precision Dance

The body is manipulated as if it were a regular and stable object. As a result, our own rhythms, activities, and even physical needs end up revolving around a neoliberal system. Precision Dance is a dance about uncertainty, precarious employment, and the artist’s own economic condition.

Carmen Ixchel Maya (Mexico City, 1994) works in the field of performance and moving images. She researches how images circulating on the internet influence the way we move. She is interested in experimenting with the notions of the archive and reappropriation through the use of body language.
