Nadege Green
Nadege Green is a multidisciplinary memory worker, curator, and writer. She is the founder of Black Miami-Dade, a history and creative studio that honors Miami’s Black past.
A queer lifelong Miamian of Haitian descent, Green was introduced early to her first art form, dance. Her initial formal training took place in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood, where she studied Haitian folkloric dance, grounding her practice in movement as inheritance.
Green is currently a Senior Fellow at the Annenberg Innovation Lab at the University of Southern California. Her past academic residencies include serving as the inaugural Scholar-in-Residence at the University of Miami’s Center for Global Black Studies and as a Distinguished Writer-in-Residence at New York University’s Center for Black Visual Culture. Her writing and scholarship have appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, The Atlantic, The Miami Herald, The Journal of Haitian Studies, NPR, Gravy Journal, and Public Radio International’s The World. In 2025, she was featured in the PBS documentary series Great Migrations: A People on the Move, created by Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr., contributing historical analysis on Haitian migration and Miami’s role within Black migration movements.
During her Spring 2026 residency at the Hemispheric Institute, entitled “Called to Dance: Haitian Dance, Migration, and Memory in Miami,” Green will be documenting oral histories that trace Miami’s history of Haitian migration through traditional Haitian dance practices. Centered on the body as archive and site of memory, the project positions dance as a living historical record, and is in dialogue with the legacy of Katherine Dunham, whose extensive ethnographic work in Haiti helped shape Black dance studies and performance in the United States.
Dr. Weiselande 'Yanui' César
Dr. Weiselande 'Yanui' César is a dancer, choreographer, educator, teaching artist, and Executive Founding Director of Tradisyon Lakou Lakay, Inc. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Services/Public Health from Walden University. For over three decades, Dr. César has taught and choreographed Haitian and modern dance in public schools, dance festivals, and other venues across the Miami area and beyond. These include Toussaint Louverture Elementary, where she founded the Toussaint Dance Ensemble; the World Dance program for Dance Now! Miami, at the Little Haiti Cultural Center; the Professional Artist Network (PAN) in North Miami; The Gede Project at Green Space Miami, and others. She has been a member of the Sosyete Koukouy, Inc. Company since 1995, and served as its Assistant Director since 2007. and I have been holding the position of Assistant Dance Director since 2007. In 2022, choreographed Yanvalou Bluez for Dance Beneath My Skin at Barry University, and has presented work at the Haitian Folkloric Dance LAB on several occasions.
Gelan Lambert
Gelan Lambert, currently a principal artist and assistant to Reginald Yates, is originally from Miami, FL and is of Haitian descent. He received a BFA in Dance from the Juilliard School, where he was awarded The Martha Hill Prize for Excellence in Dance Artistry and Leadership. Mr. Lambert has trained at Dancexchange Inc. Miami, FL, New World School of the Arts, The Ailey School, Broadway Theater Project, The Joffrey Ballet School, and The School of American Ballet.
Professional credits include The Martha Graham Dance Company, Sean Curran Company, Fosse (1st National Tour), A Christmas Carol (Madison Square Garden Theater), City Center Encores Golden Boy, NYCOpera’s Alcina/Turandot, and as a featured performer for the Jacob’s Pillow Katherine Dunham Tribute 2002 conceived and directed by Reginald Yates. Additional performance credits include the Broadway/Nigeria/World Tour in Bill T.Jones’ FELA!, playing the role of JK (rhythm tapper)/Ogungun, which was described by Ben Brantley of the New York Times as “…The brilliant, tap dance artist sui generis.” Lambert has also presented solo concerts at Jacob’s Pillow, Stella Adler Studio (Resident Artist), Florida International University, City Center Studio, Long Island University, and the George Faison Firehouse Theater. In addition to his performance credits, Mr. Lambert has choreographed works for The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Public Theater, GableStage, and choreographed Ohio University’s Antony & Cleopatra, which premiered in Stratford-upon-Avon, England in November of 2013 and NYC’s Public Theater in March 2014.
As a yoga and mindfulness meditation teacher his credits are as follows: Jacob’s Pillow Katherine Dunham Legacy Revisited faculty 2023, New Jersey Performing Arts Center as a Senior Teaching Artist, CUNY Haitian Studies Institute, YENDOR LLC in Newark, NJ & others. Mr. Lambert is a 2022 recipient of the Drama Desk Award for Choreography for Paradise Square Broadway and additionally is a YoungArts Winner, a Presidential Scholar for the Arts, a National Society of Arts and Letters Winner, a Jerome Foundation Fellow to Ghana West Africa and was awarded the Key to the City of North Miami.
