Dynasty Handbag Soggy Glasses, A Homo’s Odyssey (2014)

Dynasty Handbag's Soggy Glasses, A Homo’s Odyssey (2014) is a feminist epic of self-exploration. Handbag parodies Homer’s Odyssey by revising the masculine allegory through a queer lens. Through her signature blend of physical humor and camp aesthetics, Handbag takes viewers on a journey through her heart, mind, bowels, and "artist colon-y." She employs the female physical and spiritual body as the terrain for her journey home. Ultimately, Handbag works to dismantle patriarchy through a feminist body politic that calls for the end of phallocentric logic.

Jibz Cameron (Dynasty Handbag) is a performance/video artist and actor based in Los Angeles, California. Cameron has been heralded by The New York Times as “the funniest and most pitch perfect performance seen in years” and by The New Yorker as “outrageously smart, grotesque, and innovative.” Her work as the alter ego Dynasty Handbag has been presented at the New Museum, The Kitchen, MOCA, REDCAT, SXSW Film Festival, Performa, and Brooklyn Academy of Music, as well as many international dives. Cameron has acted in works by The Wooster Group, The Residents, and Kalup Linzy, and in many web series. She has produced numerous video projects and two albums of original music.
