John C. Dawsey is full Professor of Anthropology at the University of São Paulo (USP). Obtained Ph.D. from Emory University. At USP, he is the founding director of NAPEDRA – the Research Center in Anthropology, Performance and Drama, founded in 2001. In 2011 he coordinated the I Encontro Internacional de Antropologia e Performance (EIAP), and, in 2010, the I Encontro Nacional de Antropologia e Performance (ENAP), in São Paulo, Brazil. Between 2008 and 2013, he coordinated a Fapesp thematic project on anthropology and performance involving thirty-five researchers from five different universities. He has published ten books and collections and fifty academic articles.
