DIANA RAZNOVICH (ARGENTINA, 1975) TRANSLATED BY MARGARET CARSON
Casalia Belprop, otherwise known as the Diva, searches through a pile of unclaimed luggage in an unknown location. Her personal belongings are nowhere in sight: instead she finds tricycles, raincoats, the stolen original of The Mona Lisa, and human bones. Before long she loses her sense of place, color, self. Where is the attendant? Has she arrived? Is she still in transit? Is it day or night? Before or after? This tragicomic monologue was written while Raznovich was in exile from the military dictatorship and has yet to be performed in Argentina.
