Bukele and the Reinvention of Political Communication

Tuesday, January 31, 2023 | 6pm (EST) / Virtual Event

A Distinguished Lecture by Amparo Marroquín (UCA-El Salvador)

With commentary by Rossana Reguillo (ITESO)

This event will be in Spanish with simultaneous interpretation into English.

El Salvador has a history of being one of the most violent countries in the world. At the same time, it is also the place where an experiment in digital political communication has successfully transformed the ways in which truths and common sense are constructed. We will discuss the narrative strategies used by new anti-democratic and fascist movements to establish communicational hegemony in Latin America and across the world.
