University of Cape Town scholars Mandla Mbothwe and Mark Fleishman discuss the groundbreaking Reimagining Tragedy from Africa and the Global South Project (ReTAGS) theatrical and research initiative. ReTAGS connects the classics, contemporary theater, and scholarly research to recreate tragedy from the perspective of the African continent and the Global South.

This is an in-person event that requires registration. All non-NYU attendees must RSVP in advance. Video documentation will be made available on the Institute website following the event.

The main entrance to the Hemispheric Institute at 20 Cooper Square is wheelchair accessible and there is elevator service to our space on the 5th floor.
